In this recorded webinar, Dr. Calliope Holingue explains gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms in autism, why GI issues are so common in this population, the impact GI symptoms has on individuals with autism and their surrounding community, and how to identify and help manage GI symptoms. She also talks about the latest research on the gut-brain connection, including the gut microbiome, in autism. This is a webinar for parents, caregivers, family members, and clinical providers of children with autism.

Who is Calliope Holingue?

Calliope Holingue, M.P.H., Ph.D., is a faculty member at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She received her M.P.H. from University of California, Berkeley, her Ph.D. in Mental Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is trained as a psychiatric epidemiologist and biostatistician. Her research focuses on understanding links between physical and mental health, particularly the gut-brain connection, in individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
